Superstars [a rapport from Knutmasso 2009]

The responsibility to do the common Swede's duty regarding "Knutmasso 2009" has fallen upon my stout if somewhat dirty shoulders (the paint spread as I was trying to get rid of it).

After marvelling at our own joint creativity we turned ourselves dark to fit into the winter night. Once not only our faces and necks (ears and fingers), but also large parts of B's bathroom were black we pulled on our home-made costumes, bounced our fluffy hair and set off to the carneval.

With pride we strutted our stuff up and down Gimo mainstreet. We looked good, and we knew it. And thanks to our skilfully crafted matchbox people seemed to actually recognise our effort and more than one "Oh look at the matches" was joyously shouted from the onlookers.

Taking turns holding our matchbox close to our hearts we danced the night away to glorious music and dreamed of the more beautiful aspects of country life. It was truly beautiful, if you ignored the sweat and smell of cheap beer.

As the evening came to an end and turned into night I and Mos hoped on the last coach back to Uppsala. At the back of the buss we let our hair swing freely as we enjoyed the slightly surreal experience. Once back in Up-town we got to enjoy walking from the bus to Mos' place all dressed up while humming with wellbeing (as well as just humming) after a very successful evening despite the apparant lack of rumbling (other than internally). And even though we were unsuccessful at scaring any children during the parading we successfully managed to get a grown man to rather fearfully exclaim "Jesus Christ!" as we rounded a dark corner.

Yeah, it was a good little event. But next time, next time we need quantity. That means you will have to be there as well.
